Jonnie Walker, aka Vivid Skripcher, is a Christian Hip-Hop artist, currently based in Western Sydney. Co-Founder of the Nocturnal (N.O.C) Blacktown street gang in his younger days, he struggled with drug addiction, alcoholism, gang life and crime from an early age.
Since his first encounter with Christ in Parklea prison in 2005, there’s no doubt that his heart for the lost has been the source of the inspiration that comes through on every song. Because of that, you’re more likely to find him on the streets than in the church.
No stranger to the hip-hop scene, Vivid built a fierce reputation as a prominent battle rapper and freestyler on the streets of the west. With his brother Teiwi Biddle aka Brokenbonez Biddle, the pair have featured and collaborated with many prominent artists both local and international.
Before becoming a ‘gospel gangsta', Vivid and Brokenbonez Biddle were on the books at the Basik Sound Studios in Redfern, which came to a very sad end on account of the tragic death of it’s founder and their very good friend, Nathan “Basik” Bridger. Whilst in the Basik Sound studio, Vivid jammed out with some of the old school Aussie Hip Hop legends like Eso from Bliss ‘n’ Eso, Loco (J-Dawg) from R2R, and Hyjak, from the dynamic duo Hyjak ‘n’ Torcha.
Vivid has also busted raps with some of the rawest talent from the west including, Limmit, Pyro, Big Swizz, The D-Street Crew from Blacktown, Blunx and Sez, Finesse, Glyfix from the N.O.C, Tayzah Gunnz and many more. He has also produced music for artists that have reached over 1,000,000 views on Youtube!
But after a series of wild street fights, stabbings and late night arrests, Vivid got saved at Imagine Nations Penrith in 2009, which was 3 years after his aunty Roslynn Tutauha had a vision he would walk into that exact church, and commit to Christ. Now fellowshipping at Dayspring Church in Castle Hill with his wife and daughter, Vivid seeks to be a witness for the glory of God.
Vivid counts himself blessed to now have the chance to serve the Lord along side such amazing and talented artists as those that are currently listed in The Commission line up.
He would sum up his life in one scripture:
“For all things work out for the good for those who love God, for those who are called according to His purpose.” – Rom 8:28
